This Self Help Solution is intended for external participants from organizations and programs that are participating in UNTHSC affiliated Canvas courses. 

If you are a faculty, staff, or student from UNTHSC, please review the following FAQ solutions:



Please follow these instructions carefully. You will only be able to access the UNTHSC affiliated Canvas course once you have fulfilled all the requirements below. 


Step 1: You will receive a UNTHSC Canvas Notification to your email titled Finish Registration: Canvas from email notifications@instructure.com. 

  1. If you are unable to locate this email in your email inbox, please check your junk or spam mail folder.
  2.  **Please mark the email as not junk or spam as you will continue to receive notifications from this email domain regarding your Canvas account.**

Step 2: Please email canvas@unthsc.edu if you did not receive a registration email from UNTHSC Canvas Notification.

 

Step 3: Please click the Click here to finish the registration process link within the Finish Registration: Canvas email to create an account password.

  1. Dependent on the email platform, the email appears similar to the image below.

Step 4: Once the registration link is clicked, a new window will display with a Welcome Aboard message and your email within the login text box.  

  1. The email within the login text box is your username/login for your Canvas account. 
    1. The format for external accounts will always be an email address in lowercase format.
  2. Enter a password for your account in the password text box.
  3. Check off I agree to the Acceptable Use Policy.
  4. Click the green Register button. 
  5. You will be automatically logged into your account after clicking the Register button.

Step 5: **DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSWORD**. 

  1. Please write down your account password.
  2. As an external UNTHSC participant, you have complete control of resetting and changing your account password.
    1. I am an external user and I want to change my Canvas password.
    2. I am an external user and I forgot my Canvas password.
