Using Canvas Studio for graded and ungraded discussions

The Solution Canvas Studio Discussions provided the steps to add comments or questions to a Canvas Studio video. In this Solution we will discuss the options for graded and ungraded assignments.

Graded Discussions

  • To create a graded discussion, first complete the steps in the Canvas Studio Discussion solution.
  • Create a blank discussion and click Edit.
  • Enter the discussion directions. Include that the students need to click the green Reply button and not to reply directly in the video. If they reply directly in the video, the instructor will not be able to see the individual students responses in SpeedGrader.
  • Click on the Canvas Studio icon in the Rich Content Editor.
  • Select the video that you would like to use.
  • Save

Ungraded Discussions

  • Using Canvas Studio comments can be a useful tool to create an engaged and interactive experience for students.
  • Complete the steps in the Canvas Studio Discussion solution.
  • Create or navigate to the desired Canvas page and click Edit.
  • Enter any directions for students. It may be as simple as “Respond to the discussion prompts throughout the video.”
  • Click on the Canvas Studio icon in the Rich Content Editor.
  • Select the video that you would like to use.
  • Save
